ChatGPT: Uncovering the Truth About Accuracy Risks

ChatGPT Accuracy Risks

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a widespread, thrilling concept that is being utilized today in most sectors and even in the comfort of our own homes to create a lavish smart lifestyle. With the rise of Large Language Models (LLMs) as the new trend of AI, people everywhere were impressed with the kind of intelligence that very easily performs language tasks like translation and analysis, shows an understanding of textual data, and generates coherent text.

The newest LLM that has drawn impressive worldwide attention is ChatGPT with students, employees, and even major companies starting to use it to enhance their business from strategy to performance. OpenAI Co-Founder Greg Brockman announced on Twitter that ChatGPT crossed one million users in only 5 days after it was launched. This is an insane record following Instagram, which hit the one million mark after 2 months of its launch.

ChatGPT was surely quick to impress, it stirred up different emotions from excitement to fear of unemployment. However, even though ChatGPT may seem to present precise information, users discovered that the AI chatbot pushes inaccurate results at times creating hazards of distributing incorrect information. It was found that while ChatGPT is well-trained, it could be inaccurate.

Risks of inaccuracy were declared, warning people of the misuse or spreading of misinformation on large media channels and platforms. After extensive research, several factors were revealed to play a part in this harmful phenomenon, such as:

  1. AI Hallucinations: referring to generating false facts based on statistical errors. This happens from a lack of understanding of meaning, or what humans are asking for.
  1. Bias: given that ChatGPT is a foundational Machine Learning model, it may pull data that promote discrimination, stereotypes, hate speech, or bullying.
  1. Consent: this poses a major risk of plagiarism, as the large language model could gather data from texts from someone else’s hard work or that are copyright marked.
  1. Security: human behavior cannot be controlled; some individuals may take advantage of the AI chatbot to perform malicious tasks such as spam or scams.

These are harmful risks when mishandling large language models and how intelligent technology should be approached. Other LLMs that captivated the attention of the world include Microsoft’s Bing and Google’s Bard, demonstrating that LLMs will not disappear but will continue to evolve. When it comes to the era of transformation, we as humans should understand technological behavior and carefully ask the right questions.
